The Bands and People Tonight – I Heart You All

Here is a quick rundown to tonight’s bands and performers and how I feel about. Please excuse any typos but I am running way behind schedule – I will amend any mistakes tomorrow x

The Greeting Committee are headlining tonight.I am sure they will blow the roof off the place. I have done photographs with them and done some filming at a sublime acoustic performance at a Sunderland radio station

Brilliant Mind  Have supported my work and vice versa. We have all become good friends over the years. I especially appreciate what they are doing tonight they have rehearsed a special acoustic set as Paul their drummer is away – much respect.

Gem Andrews

Gem has such beautiful emotive songs – they make me cry (in a good way)

Symphonic Pictures

Super talented  band making their debut blogged about them yesterday – just so excitiied and honoured to be at their debut gig – no pics yet of the band but here are some recent shots

David Burn

An absolute all round top man – the only person who has ever brought me a beer from the dressing room to the photography pit – that alone makes him a top man but he has helpful and supportive- he will be doing a DJ set tonight

Simon Donald

Simon has been helpful through the years –  a good hearted guy as well as being super talented – can’t wait to see what he does tonight. We need to do some pix 🙂

Exhibition Set Up

Special thank you to Allan and Jill what a team – thanks for hanging all the frames. Also to my friend Mark at http://www.tynemouthstationframes.com/ for putting up with all the last minute shenanigans

Special Performance at Tonight’s Instamatic for the People Gig and Exhibition.

It’s funny how things work out.

Back in January I met David, Johnny and Dale for the first time when I did a photo shoot with Detroit Social Club, and tonight they are all supporting my exhibition. I feel lucky to know them

David Burn is doing a DJ set and will keep the tunes coming through the evening.

Johnny Bond and Dale Knight will be unveiling with their new band Symphonic Pictures in their first public performance – it is an honour and a privilege  that their first gig will be at the Instamatic for the People gig at The Cluny

Let the music and video do the talking – check out the video out on You Tube preparing for the gig on Wednesday 25 May

Teenage Cancer Trust Buckets and Branding Have Arrived

The people from Teenage Cancer Trust have dropped the buckets and some branding for the gig on Wednesday.

Although it is a free gig I am confident people will give generously on the night. I always think the best of people and I know that my friends and people visiting will donate what they can on the night – that is all you can  ask for.

I was not surprised that all  these people have offered their time and effort without a fee: The Cluny, The Greeting Committee, Brilliant Mind, Symphonic Pictures, Gem Andrews ,Simon Donald, David Burn, Paul Burgess Graphic Design, and Image Visual Communications – without these people the gig/exhibition would not be happening really touched by how kind people are – thank you so much.

Last Call for Instamatic for The People Open Studio Photoshoot Today

Today is the final day of my Instamatic for the People project tomorrow the final images will be framed and made ready for the exhibition.

So I have decided to open up my studio to any local musicians that want to come down and be photographed for this project. I will be here until 9pm this evening so come on down. For most of the day I expect I will be doing my normal work of editing photographs, doing lighting tests, and messing around on Facebook – please come down and make me get busy. It will only take five minutes to take the photograph.

My studio is at:

High Bridge Studios and Gallery

39 High Bridge

Newcastle upon Tyne

NE1 1EW

It is in the city centre  – not far from the Theatre Royal and the Bigg Market. Search David Wala Photography on google maps for details.

Below are some photographs taken this morning :

Framing the Photographs for the Instamatic for the People Exhibition

Things are running to schedule so far, although O am sure there will be some last-minute panic.

This morning I dropped the majority of my photographs with the super talented Mark at www.tynemouthstationframes.com – without any prompting he offered to do my framing at cost as my event is for charity – much respect and gratitude – if you believe in good karma it should be coming your way.

Still more people to photograph – I am going to keep photographing until Monday morning so if there are any bands in the North East of England that want to get involved you are all welcome – this project is totally inclusive and democratic
